The participants in TOBI

Up to this point I have not yet mentioned what the acronym TOBI stands for. Well, as you can already guess, it comes from Tools for Brain-Computer Interaction. Now let us have a look at the members that are participants in this standardization effort.  As it can be seen on the website of the European Commission, the following units are part of the project and they are organized as a consortia:
Coordinator:
  • Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (Switzerland)
Members:

  • Stiftung Orthopaedische Universitaetsklinik Heidelberg (Germany)
  • Qualilife SA (Switzerland)
  • Technische Universitaet Graz (Austria)
  • Technische Universitat Berlin (Germany)
  • Kreuznacher Diakonie (Germany)
  • Julius-Maximilians Universitaet Wuerzburg (Germany)
  • Associazione Italiana per l Assistenza Agli Spastici Provincia di Bologna (Italia)
  • Fondazione Santa Lucia (Italia)
  • Medel Medizinische Elektronic Handelsgesellschaft MBH (Germany)
  • Eberhard Karls Universitaet Tuebingen (Germany)
  • Schweizerische Unfallversicherungsanstalt (Switzerland)
  • University of Glasgow (United Kingdom)

On project's website we can find a picture that nicely illustrates the European aspect of this consortium.

Additionally, a number of companies helped on the project by providing their feedback and advises, on three different categories: industrial, scientific and user-group. Among the members of this advisory board one can find representatives from Otto Bock, Nokia, Spelamode Consulting and University of London. Even more, everyone was welcomed to bring their contribution by experimenting with the standards and suggest improvements.
